Recently, Master Car learned from Volvo Cars that the brand-new pure electric SUV EX90 will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show, which will open on January 5, 2023. It is reported that the Volvo EX90 will be produced and put on sale in China in 2024. Compared with the current fuel version of XC90, EX90 not only uses pure electric drive, but also greatly upgrades the driver assistance function, central computing platform and software functions.
At the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show, Volvo Cars will also release the latest technological progress to the world. During the event, Volvo Cars will jointly release the high-definition map function with Google to further improve the safety performance of vehicles and gradually realize the unsupervised and safe automatic driving mode. In addition, Volvo will continue to cooperate with Lu Minar to enhance the safety performance of vehicles and achieve the ultimate goal of safe and automatic driving.
In terms of active safety configuration, Volvo EX90 will be equipped with a lidar developed by Minar Lu, a Silicon Valley technology company in the United States as standard, and the detection distance of the lidar can reach 250 meters with a reflectivity of 10%. Together with the lidar, five body radars, eight cameras and sixteen ultrasonic sensors in the car will work together. Volvo EX90 will also be Volvo's first model whose hardware already supports "future driverless" technology.
Through research and analysis, with the application of lidar technology, Volvo Cars predicts that the number of major casualties will be reduced by 20%, and the proportion of avoiding vehicle collisions can be increased by 9% at the highest.
In terms of power, the Volvo EX90 will be equipped with a 111 kWh battery pack. The charging time of 10%-80% of the power in the fast charging mode is about 30 minutes, and the cruising range of about 600 kilometers can be achieved under WLTP conditions. It also supports bidirectional charging, and the car battery can be used as an additional energy source to power homes, electronic equipment or another Volvo electric vehicle. The EX90 is driven by front and rear double motors, and the comprehensive maximum output power can reach 370 kW.
