Old Pajero v33 (old Pajero V33 second row video)
Author-Kajia User: Internal Combustion Teahouse
At the beginning of 2021, I sold the overbearing 3400 in 1999 and bought a Pajero V33 in 1997.
Actually, I'm not interested in cross-country. I bought an off-road vehicle just for fun. Occasionally drive to the rotten road to play, just to take pictures.
The reason why I bought this Pajero is that it is really handsome.
More than ten years ago, when I just got to know something about cars, the shape of the second generation Pajero was synonymous with "jeep" in my mind. When it comes to "jeep", what comes to mind is this car.
In a blink of an eye, it has been half a year since I became a Mitsubishi owner. Although I haven't opened much, I still want to write an article about V33 and the history of the second generation Pajero, and miss the golden age of Mitsubishi.
1997 Mitsubishi pajero V33
Brief history of vehicle types
More than once, I was asked by friends about the relationship between Mitsubishi and Cheetah models, and what is it to straighten my waist, so of course, I have to talk about history first.
The second generation Pajero was born in 1991 and is the last generation of non-load-bearing body Pajero. Mitsubishi also offers five-door long-axis and three-door short-axis models, among which the V33 is the version that forces this five-door long-axis and is equipped with a 3.0 gasoline engine. In the era when the front and rear hard bridges could not give consideration to good road performance, it used the design of the front double wishbone rear hard bridge, but did not use the design of the front and rear hard bridges of a hard-core off-road vehicle such as LC80. This setting seemed to give consideration to certain road performance in the early 1990s. Of course, the former model chose the front independent suspension in 1982, which was even more advanced at that time.
Throughout the 1990s, the second generation Pajero was imported into China in large quantities and became the backbone of official vehicles at all levels in China. You can always see it in the film and television works of that year. A friend of the author who is engaged in the film industry said that the police car can't be found in filming, and the whole old cheetah can also be used with a small warning light, which shows the influence of this model in China.
By the end of 1990s, Cheetah was authorized by Mitsubishi to start assembling the second-generation Pajero, and continued to add magic change to make this model, which was born in the early 1990s, live in China until the factory Changfeng died, which is amazing.
The imported second-generation Pajero that can be seen in China is mainly V31V32V33. The V31 and V32 are four-cylinder models with high-low roof design. They are ordinary part-time 4wd without super-selected four-wheel drive, and the interior configuration is very simple. There are no advanced configurations such as electric seats and hunting skylights on the V33.
Early V32, round lamp, pie hoop
The author's V33 was the top version of the original second-generation Pajero, which was common at that time. It was equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 12-valve EFI engine with code name 6G72, a generation of super-selected four-wheel drive and a hunting skylight. The main driver was equipped with an eight-way electric seat and front row heating. However, as it was a previous model, it was not equipped with such "advanced configuration" as fog lights, ABS and airbags.
V33 in the previous period, straight waist
Friends who know a little about this generation of Pajero or cheetah must have heard the expressions of "straight waist" and "pinching waist". In fact, this is one of the differences between the previous and later models of V33. In 1997, Mitsubishi changed the V33, and the side lines were changed. Something similar to a small wide body was made on the front and rear wheel arches, which made it more powerful, so there was a saying of "pinching the waist". In addition, fog lights, airbags and ABS have been added. When you compare the upper and lower pictures, the difference is obvious.
Late V33, pinch the waist
At the end of 1990s, the second generation Pajero was introduced into domestic production in the form of military products. The V33 equipped with 6G72 engine, the corresponding model in Changfeng Cheetah is CFA2030 series, the same 6G72 engine+super-selected four-wheel drive. However, it should be noted that their relationship can only be said to correspond, and the official has never called this "domestic V33".
In 2030, this car began to be produced around the Millennium, and there were new cars on the brand until 2008. Unlike the original V33 equipped with a twelve-valve engine, Cheetah 2030 is powered by the 24-valve version 6G72 of Mitsubishi V43/V73 at the same time, which can output up to 181 horsepower, much higher than the 148 horsepower of the 12-valve version of V33 and even higher than the pitiful 177 horsepower of the Bank of China V93.
Cheetah CFA2030D
The early Cheetah 2030 had a large number of Mitsubishi accessories, and was equipped with a super-selected four-wheel drive, and the engine was also original. Although it is not as good as Mitsubishi in assembly technology and materials for small things, it is also well received by consumers because of its reliability. After all, more than a decade ago, the price of Cheetah 2030 was as high as about 300,000 yuan. Thinking with the heel is not the same as that of hundreds of cheetahs later.
How to tell whether a car is original V33 or Cheetah 2030? The simplest thing is that there is no antenna on the fender of Cheetah 2030, and the setting of ground clearance is much higher than that of V33. It is obvious to compare the pictures of V33 above. In addition, the V33 interior door panel has wrinkled skin, while the 2030 does not. It is impossible to tell whether it is Mitsubishi or cheetah simply by pinching the waist straight, because Cheetah 2030 has both straight waist and pinched waist.
2030a: manual block waist straightening, 2030B: automatic block waist straightening, 2030C: manual block waist pinching, and 2030D: automatic block waist pinching.
Cheetah CJY6421, the earliest domestic assembly V31.
The above cheetah CJY6421, which was produced in 1997, is almost a completely disassembled Mitsubishi V31, which is basically the same as the original car. At that time, it was mainly used for supplying troops. In the later period, with the improvement of localization rate and the lack of enterprising of Changfeng Cheetah, this model has gradually embarked on the cheap route. Some people say that the turning point is probably around 2005, but this statement cannot be verified.
For example, at first, Black King Kong with 4G64 engine in V33 shell sold well. Later, it even produced a cheetah raiders equipped with 2.2-liter 4RB3 and domestic electronic four-wheel drive. The price was almost 100,000, but the car itself was a shoddy product.
2014 Cheetah 6481
At the end of the product life, Cheetah even bought the Cheetah Q6 with the second generation Pajero magic change again, and sold it until 2019. The line is still the design of the V33, and the domestic 4G63 turbine version 2.0T is installed "keeping pace with the times", and 6AT is also available. As for how this car looks, you can go to a forum and Baidu Post Bar to have a look, and there will be surprises. Later cheetah products can only be said to have the shape of Pajero, and have long lost the soul of Mitsubishi.
2017 Cheetah Q6
You may feel a little confused after reading it, but I also feel confused. The history of the second generation Pajero is so chaotic.
This is not to mention the V43 Montero and the V45 GDI local version, which have entered China through non-big trade channels, but still have some possession. Huatai Hyundai Traka is also a Korean version of the second-generation Pajero, and the history of this car will be even more chaotic if we continue to look at the world.
In a word, the common one is the original 31/32/33 edition. The 2030 series on the cheetah side and the early production of the Cheetah 6470 series with 4G64 mechanical part-time 4wd and high and low top design are also right. You can understand these two as the motherland version V33 and the motherland version V31.
Accompanied by V33
Let's get back to the point. Let's talk about the author's 1997 Pajero V33.
The last batch of original big trade straight waist 33
Before I bought this car, I had never actually driven any version of the second-generation Pajero, including derivative models such as Cheetah. Going to the next city to see cars is just a passing look, and if you don't like it, you should go as an experience.
When I went there, I found that the car was originally painted and the original degree was very high. For more than 20 years, not only has the door panel been disassembled, but what is even more surprising is that all the chassis ball heads are like the original car parts, and some screws are rusted.
Double wishbone front suspension
The high original degree means that this car is not a tool car for being a cow and a horse in a ravine. There is no trace of disassembly of the instrument, which means that the car is actually 190 thousand kilometers. The ball head of the V33 chassis, like a big truck, can be buttered, and it can be used for a long time in theory if it is maintained on time. In this 1997 car, there is no crack in the ball head of the original chassis, and the quality is really good.
The floating rust on the chassis means that the car has been standing for years, which means that it has not moved at all for many years. So, except that the engine is a little old on the body, other conditions are really good. After many years, there is no oil hanging on the engine. The first ignition after many years is actually very harmful to the engine, but it is also inevitable.
I bought a car wash, and the color is gratifying. For a change, it's beautiful every day, and there's nothing wrong with the machinery. It's good.
The simple shape of the previous paragraph, dark green with original factory flowers, and the original factory bumper that can stand people, tastes right, this is the jeep in my heart when I was a child!
At sunset, sitting on the roadside in my hometown county, eating shaved ice, blowing the wind, patting a Mitsubishi mechanical key on the table, watching the bobcats stop at the roadside, which is so beautiful.
This shape is not an exaggeration to say that it is a classic, is it?
It is comfortable enough to sit. Ergonomics of the driver's seat is OK. The leather of the big leather seat is very good and the padding is just right. Unlike those pickup trucks and off-road vehicles in magic change, the platform is not too high, and the V33 legs can be unfolded naturally. The only problem is that the headrest is too hard. The steering wheel position is relatively low, and with the huge side window, driving this car has a sense of openness that other cars can't give you. The right hand is responsible for shifting gears, and the other arm must of course be placed on the windowsill!
Needless to say, the central control triple table, but no one will have no impression of this thing if they have been in this car, right?
There is independent air conditioning in the back row, and the seat also gave me a surprise. People with short cushions will feel uncomfortable, the adjustable range of backrest is huge, and the height of the platform does not make people squat on the bench. According to today's standards, they can give high marks. What is more special is that the handrails are put down on the left and right sides, but because of the shape of the backrest, it is more suitable to be a four-seat car without mentioning the third row-after all, there are only two two-point seat belts in the second row of the V33.
The third row of hangers can not be used for normal riding needs, but can only be used for emergency.
I would like to mention here that the second-generation Pajero and the early cheetah, which mainly drive the manual seat, have a very powerful function-the seat comes with shock absorption, and it is said that long-distance crossing will be more comfortable. However, because that position became a huge electric seat mechanism, the V33 naturally missed this configuration. ......
The central control design is very simple as a whole, and you can find what you want at a glance. The materials used are not all hard plastics, but some soft materials are wrapped. Except for the idea that the music media panel was placed at the bottom, it seems a bit weird today, and it will not make people feel uncomfortable to use it elsewhere.
By the way, there is a button in the center of the headlight lever. Press it to clean the headlight, just like Fukang's horn.
The 12-valve 6G72 engine on the V33 can only output 148 horsepower (@5000rpm) and 238N·m torque (@4000rpm), which seems like a joke today, and the curb weight of 2050kg does not seem to be easily pushed. However, thanks to the gear ratio setting, and the 6G72 is very similar to the output mode of a small displacement engine, the upper speed is very fast and it is very oil-grabbing, so daily driving will not feel that the V33 is not powerful enough. However, full load or plateau working conditions are still not ideal.
The exaggerated gear ratio setting led to the unreasonable cruising speed of V33. The car with 3000cc has a speed of 120kph and a speed of 3500 rpm. I don't know if I'm driving a manual transmission. In addition, the wind noise of this car in high-speed cruising state is also very exaggerated, as well as the tire noise of AT tires. In order to enjoy the melodious music brought by the 4-speaker stereo, I prefer to run honestly in the right lane at 100kph.
However, this 4-speaker pioneer stereo is ok. With this modified pioneer Bluetooth car, it is still better than some H-brand Japanese mid-size cars when the car is stationary.
Handwave V33 has a very high clutch tolerance, and with 6G72 powerful low torque, it can start smoothly when lifted casually, and it can also move forward normally at the speed of 40 to 5 gears per hour. The feel of the wave box is ok, not the old commercial vehicle style that is difficult to hang, but the journey is very long. However, the steering machine with ancient circulating ball structure makes the steering feel of V33 extremely commercial. Compared with the old hydraulic vehicle, the damping is very light, and the full speed range is zero gain. At the same time, with a huge virtual position, the steering wheel can be swayed left and right when walking in a straight line.
The steering feel of commercial vehicles, coupled with the long stroke of gearbox, is definitely poor if judged from the perspective of rational product force.
But this kind of driving experience, which is hard to have now, is so fun!
My V33 clutch pedal will make a noise when you step on it, and it will creak when you put some butter on it, but I haven't put it on.
I just enjoy the feeling of this commercial vehicle.
That time, a friend who drove a convertible sports car came to visit me, and then he drove a V33, calling it a bus.
But we are all very happy.
Chrome-plated rear bumper is also a classic!
On the spare tire cover of this car, the first line under 4WD reads "Born on the rally field".
In fact, Mitsubishi is not bragging, because the road performance of V33 is really good in off-road vehicles at the same time. Although the rear axle is a leaf spring, the overall shock absorption performance is not bad. More importantly, at the same speed, the overbearing 3400 seems to overturn, and the V33 is more confident and can give you enough support. It can be said that the road performance of V33 is excellent in the girder car in the early 1990s, but it may also be related to the relatively low ground clearance setting. Although the V33 is bigger than the overbearing 3400, it drives more like a car.
The seat is comfortable enough, and the road performance is reassuring. Although you can experience the steering and shifting feel rich in commercial vehicle flavor, it does not prevent the V33 from being an excellent off-road vehicle. Occasionally, in the process of trying to "cross-country" on a whim, I felt the powerful low-twist and super-selected four-wheel drive from 6G72, deliberately creating a scene of being stuck in a car, and hanging down the fourth grade instantly reached the ground.
The fuel consumption is also very surprising. The city driving is about 13-14 liters, and the high-speed cruising is about 10 liters. For a classic car with a displacement of 3.0 tons, this is the pioneer of environmental protection!
Of course, the more difficult cross-country has not been experienced. And in 2021, no one will really take this old guy to challenge those steep routes.
But in fact, for friends who have a low budget and want to play cross-country, it is a very cost-effective thing to buy a V33 or Cheetah 2030, because it is necessary to repair the car, and the accessories of this car are extremely cheap, which is scary.
Although Changfeng Cheetah did not build a decent car in the later period, it guaranteed the supply of accessories for the second generation Pajero.
You can buy a pair of headlights made by Cheetah for 280 yuan, and four shock absorbers of KYB only need 400 yuan. If the instrument panel is rotten, you can spend 1100 yuan to buy a brand-new one. If the carpet is dirty for more than 400 yuan, just replace it with a new one. Do you need 300 to 400 yuan for fine cleaning? You don't need a foreskin if the steering wheel is old, and you can get a brand-new steering wheel for 240 yuan. What should I do if the girder is deformed? 3900 yuan is innocent. I don't care about these things. I bought Mitsubishi's original parts for mechanical wearing parts, and the price was not expensive. I changed a thermostat from the original factory for more than 80 yuan.
Repairing V33 has made me experience unprecedented happiness. I want everything, and thieves are cheap. Buying Mitsubishi original oil and water is also a conscience price, and the original differential oil is only in the early 100 s for four liters.
But I don't want to drive it to the rotten road. I want to enjoy the slow time that Bobcats give me in the car.
Wash the car clean, and the original paint sprayed by Nagoya Manufacturing 24 years ago is still radiant.
Unscrew the car door with a mechanical key and lift the antenna after ignition. Listen to a piece of Faye Wong, and put it in first gear to lift the clutch.
This is not a car, but a Vintage and a time machine.
Those ancient characteristics with strong flavor will become an attractive thing under certain circumstances.
With mechanical mileage, white backlight and the most iconic four-wheel drive indicator, I like this instrument very much.
I hope this 24-year-old bobcat can ride forever.
There are always some people who take out their old cars and boast that they are better than their current cars. In fact, I really despise this statement.
It's like someone telling you today with the old Nikon F5 film machine that it is more powerful than the new full-frame machine.
The past will always pass, but there are still some places where the once powerful products shine more brightly because of the polishing of time, or we are still nostalgic for that time.
Nostalgia for the shining time of Mitsubishi Motors.
