In terms of power, Mazda's new generation MX-5 will be equipped with Mazda 3' s same 2.0L Skyactiv X four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, with a maximum power of 132 kW and a peak torque of 224 N m. The transmission system will be matched with a 6-speed automatic manual transmission and manual gearbox, but its power parameters are not superior to those of Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ.

According to overseas media, Mazda's new generation MX-5 will also provide a mild hybrid system for the first time, and will continue to adopt the layout of front and rear drive. In addition, its new generation of models will continue to introduce soft-top convertible models and hard-top convertible models for consumers to buy, which is more recognizable than Toyota 86 and other models at the same level.
